1) Why does the tank have to be certified?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tanks containing hazardous waste, as defined by the state of California, have to be certified in accordance with California Title 22 66265.192<\/a> which cites the requirements to be placed on such a tank. In briefest terms, the tank has to be certified as integral, as secondarily contained, that secondary containment has to be integral and the tank must be secured seismically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) What if the tank is not in \u201ccertifiable condition?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salmon and Schroeder will, after initial examination of the tank(s) provide you with handwritten notes and sketches for what must be done to the tank. Upon request we can provide a quote from a contractor to bring the tank up to standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3)<\/strong> Why do many tank installations require anchoring upgrades?<\/strong>
Aboveground tanks are installed in accordance with Uniform Building Code standards.  In the case of a Hazardous Waste Tank  System Assessment a Professional Engineer (PE) certifies under penalty of law that the tank installation complies with California hazardous waste codes,<\/strong> which includes additional strict seismic security specifications. As there are significant penalties for submitting false information, including the fines, imprisonment and losing their license, the PE requires tank anchoring to meet or exceed accepted engineering seismic specifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4) What is the certification process?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are three steps to the process; an initial visit, the modification cycle (if needed) and a re-inspection visit (if needed). After processing in our engineering department, your certification will be issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5) How long is the certification good for?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Certifications are good for five years<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6) How much does a tank certification cost?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salmon and Schroeder\u2019s base price for a single tank at a single location is $1200. However, prices vary with distance, multiple tanks at a single location or multiple locations, additional work product produced beyond on- site sketches, or if you elect to use our contractor for modification services. We are also willing to lock prices in over multiple years for very large, multi-location organizations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
